IQM is speeding up discoveries andbreakthroughs in science and engineering with quantum computing. Their mission is to build world-leading quantum computers for the well-being of humankindnow and for the future. IQM has been selected as one of the ten most promising Finnish startups of 2020 with the vision to drive disruptive advancements in quantum computing. 20/20 Helsinki was selected as the creative agencytasked with creating a new visual identity, tone of voice, story and website and I was invited to be part of the branding team.
We wanted to position IQM as an ultra-modern, technical, yet still humane company that brings a completely new level of visualization and thought into the field of quantum computing. We ́re clarifying the complexity of quantum computing with clear and minimalistic visuals and layout, as well as using abstract imagery to create intriguing suspense and portray things we cannot yet see or explain.
The main inspiration for new look & feel came directly from the definition of the quantum computing and the qubits. Qubits are fundamental to quantum computing and are somewhat analogous to bits in a classical computer. Superposition is the ability of a quantum system to be in multiple states at the same time. The creative concept visualizes superposition by using multiple layers in one image to portray the concept of being in multiple states simultaneously.
IQM was founded by a highly ambitious team of world-leading scientists having built several successful quantum labs and research centers globally during the past two decades. We wanted to highlight the highly talented professionals with the strong visual language, tone of voice and portraits.
