︎︎︎            Visual identity and movie titles for ‘Kelet’, a documentary about the life of a young Somali trans woman in Finland.

After coming out, Kelet was cut off from her family in Manchester and returned to her childhood home Finland, where with the support of her friends in the Vogue community she is following her dream of becoming a model.

Bold, iconic and unapologetic were the keywords when creating the identity, which takes cues from the ballroom scene and pays homage to classics like ‘Paris is Burning’. The identity is colourful and playful, yet soft and sophisticated. Just like Kelet’s classy and humorous charisma.
With several sold out additional screenings during the first week, ‘Kelet’ was the most watched film during Docpoint Film Festival 2020. ‘Kelet’ also won the Audience Award, which is no wonder after all the tears, laughter and standing ovation during the premiere night.
“Mahadura’s debut manages to be quite touching without ever yielding to self-pity, however understandable that swerve could have been. For all this hardship, it’s actually frequently hilarious, with the kind of banter and shade-throwing that ‘Pose’ viewers tune in for religiously.”  – Cineuropa
